ELL 589 is designed to support pre-K-12 mainstream educators and paraprofessionals as they work to provide equitable access to college and career-ready standards for English learners. Participants will connect research to practice throughout this course, with the goal that educators will be able to apply new learning to their unique students and educational settings. The principles and practices examined throughout this course are focused on English learners; however, they are easily applicable to and necessary for a wide range of students. Engaging participants to reach a deeper understanding of the connections between cultural proficiency and academic achievement is a central focus of ELL 589. Participants will examine current practices and add to their repertoire to meet rigorous standards while differentiating for language diversity.
